Velvet de Oro is an Asian-American artist from California whose art revolves around copious figures and free-style patterns. Her work is heavily influenced by Asian Indian and Tibetan art, Filipino Tribal Tattoos, Chinese art scrolls, the Japanese pop culture, De Stijl, DC Graphic Novels, Norman Rockwell, Alphonse Mucha and Pablo Picasso.
Velvet was always drawn to art ever since childhood. She learned all her techniques through studious self-teaching. Her over-active imagination never limited her to creating her own unique style. Oil, acrylic, Indian ink, her-made-from-scratch, gessoed broadcloth and kona fabric canvases are most her most priced possessions.
